After the addition of a lighthearted fishing event to Destiny 2, players discussed a major sore point about the new feature being tied to a public event. It was a big week for Destiny 2 fans as Bungie not only unveiled the first trailer for The Last Shape expansion pack, but the weekly reset also brought the highly anticipated Season of the Deep. As Bungie has revealed over the past few weeks, Season 21 brings a slew of updates and tweaks that balance weapons, exotics, and attempt to resurrect some of the lesser-used Destiny 2 subclasses. Players can prepare enough Destiny 2 Silver in the game.

In terms of gameplay, Season of the Deep reintroduces Vice Commander Sloane, allowing players to dive into the depths of the methane ocean on Titan and battle Taken and Hive in a new seasonal mission. One of the biggest surprises of Season 21 is the introduction of fishing, which allows players to catch various forms of fish for rewards and an eventual break from the action and tension of Destiny 2's core campaign. However, as popular as fishing has become with players, there is one major problem that players don't enjoy.

While the fishing minigame can be done as a standalone activity, Destiny 2 encourages fishing with others through a gain called "Focused Fishing". This value increases the amount of time players spend fishing together in a location, making it easier to find rarer fish over time and allowing players to get better loot. Unfortunately, players have noticed that this system is not perfect, as these fishing locations are associated with public events that occur in the area and can disappear on a respawn. To make matters worse, when fishing holes disappear to make way for public events, buffs disappear with them.

Fans have taken to social media and Destiny 2 subReddit to express their displeasure with this. One post by a user named unnecessary_z highlighted the issue in particular, praising the fishing-related gameplay loop but pointing out how public event interruptions can cause players to hang before the event ends. Other users seemed to agree, while some argued that if Focus didn't reset, everyone would always have max gain and would likely destroy the game's economy with easy access to resources and loot. In any case, fans seem to agree that the current system is not perfect and could use a tweak or two.

In addition to fishing, players have expressed concern about another change to the Deep Season. According to the patch notes, Bungie lowered the drop rate for Neomuna weapons in VIP patrols, which was supposed to be an easy way to get some new gear. Unfortunately, for those seeking updated Neomuna weapons, they seem to be a bit more available than originally expected.
